- Batter Ratings (CSV)
Note: This file is not using official Strat-o-Matic cards. For example, Bunt Ratings may not match official Bunt Ratings available for seasons which Strat has previously carded. These are ratings generated from my own formulas. Whenever official Strat ratings are available, I would of course suggest that you defer to them. Mainly I use this spreadsheet for help with the Old-Timer sets which have been released in Basic format only.
The "HR?" rating is also completely optional. I use it for the following reasons. Take the 1988 season, for example. There were 3,180 HR hit in 159,365 plate appearances. That means that the average player would hit 12 HR per 600 plate appearances. Since half of all rolls are read off of the pitcher cards, that means that even a player who hit just ONE (1) HR in 600 plate appearances (and would have no HOMER results listed on his card) would still average hitting SIX (6) homers per season - all coming off of the pitcher's card. This "HR?" column will help smoooth that data out to realistic levels.
Take Alfredo Griffin, for example, who hit 1 homer in 354 plate appearances that season. His card should have no HOMER listings on it, but in 354 plate appearances he would roll a HOMER off a pitcher card approximately FOUR (4) times.
(354 / 2) * (3180 / 159365) = 3.53
My chart has a "HR?" number of 6 for 1988 Alfredo Griffin. So our expected number of homers he'd hit that season is reduced to ONE (1).
3.53 * (6 / 20) = 1.06
HR? - if a home run is rolled off an opposing pitcher's card, and this batter's card has no HOMERUN results listed on it, use this number. Roll d20. If the roll is <= the number listed here, the HOMERUN stands. Otherwise, change the result to SINGLE**.
Bunt - the bunt rating for the player
- Pitcher Ratings (CSV)
See Notes on the Batter Ratings above for a full disclaimer on these ratings.
Pow SP - the starter POW rating for the pitcher.
Pow RP - the relief POW rating for the pitcher.
Rest - the number of days a pitcher must rest after a start. For example, if a pitcher with a "Rest" rating of 3 starts in game 1 of the season, they are not eligible to pitch again until game 5 of the season. (i.e. their three days of rest are games 2, 3, and 4)
Rest Split - the chance that a pitcher can start on short rest. Roll d20. If the roll is less than or equal to this number, then they rest the same number of days listed in their "Rest" column. Otherwise, add 1 to "Rest". For example, a pitcher with a "Rest" of 2 and a "Rest Split" of 7 starts in game 1 of the season. Roll d20. If the roll is 1-7, the pitcher can start again in game 4 (after resting for 2 games). If the roll is 8-20, the pitcher can start again in game 5 (after resting for 3 games).
Rotation - the pitcher's spot in the starting rotation.
PHC - which pitcher's hitting card should this pitcher use.
HR? - if a home run is rolled off an opposing pitcher's card, and this batter's card has no HOMERUN results listed on it, use this number. Roll d20. If the roll is <= the number listed here, the HOMERUN stands. Otherwise, change the result to SINGLE**.
HRA? - if a home run is rolled off an opposing batter's card, and this pitcher's card has no HOMERUN results listed on it, use this number. Roll d20. If the roll is <= the number listed here, the HOMERUN stands. Otherwise, change the result to SINGLE**.
